Cultural Connections was founded by Dr. Betty Flinchum, former Director of International Programs for the University of North Florida. We offer a unique, informed and collaborative approach to international travel and cultural orientation and training programs for businesses and educational institutions.

Betty Flinchum

Betty M. Flinchum has over 25 years experience in the academic community developing and conducting international programs through the positions of founding faculty member, professor, teacher, and international development specialist within the University of North Florida.

During her tenure at UNF, she served the University as a teacher; Chairperson for two Divisions; Director of International Programs for seventeen years and Senior Advisor and Protocol Officer.

Oscar Molina and Teresita Ingianna - Costa Rica
Oscar Molina, engineer, technical administrator and university lecturer; and Teresita Ingianna, longtime community leader and university administrator and lecturer; serve as Cultural Connections tour facilitators in Costa Rica. Both bring extensive experience in travel and cultural service.

Andre Sonko / Sidi Camara - West Africa
Andre Sonko, Minister, government advisor and businessman; and Sidi Camara, educator and entrepreneur; facilitate Cultural Connections tours in Dakar and the surrounding areas of Senegal.

Cynthia and Paul Thompson / Lourdes Smith - Belize, Central America
Cynthia Thompson, distinguished educator and community leader; and Paul Thompson, Constituency Coordinator for the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Enterprise; serve as facilitators for Cultural Connections tours in Belize.

Lourdes Smith, Executive Director of BELTRAIDE, a government supported
trade and investment organization, coordinates cultural training programs for
companies in Belize. She brings a wealth of experience in Belize business
and extensive cultural expertise .

Gareth Williams - England
Gareth Williams, artist and expert in art history and museum
studies, serves as the Cultural Connections coordinator for tours in England.

Nancy Olson - USA
JEDC - International Protocol / Sister Cities
Nancy Olson is Senior Manager for International Protocol / Sister Cities of the Jacksonville Economic Development Commission. She staffs the Mayor’s International Development Commission and supervises the administration of the Jacksonville Sister Cities program.

Nancy provides international protocol assistance and training to city officials, corporate leaders, and international organizations. She is also a founding member and was recently elected as a Board Member to the Protocol and Diplomacy International Association.
